Faces Behind Bishopthorpe Cricket Club 3- Matt Coulson (Club Secretary & Safeguarding Officer) Every cricket club has that one person who seems to do… everything. Emails? Matt. Forms? Matt. Making sure everyone’s DBS is sorted and the club is a safe place for all? Also Matt. After retiring from cricket 10 years ago and vowing never to return… somehow he’s now right back in the middle of it all. As Club Secretary and Safeguarding Officer, Matt is the man behind the scenes keeping Bishopthorpe Cricket Club running smoothly, often powered by equal parts commitment and mild chaos. On the pitch, he still makes the occasional appearance… usually to remind everyone that his best years are very much behind him (according to him, at least). 💬 “Success isn’t just about wins and runs, it’s about how many people we can bring into the game and making cricket accessible to everyone.” A lot of what he does goes unnoticed but without it, there is no club.
