Did someone say junior cricket!

🏏 WEEK 3 — THE NEXT GENERATION Every cricket club has to start somewhere. Sometimes it's with a bat. Sometimes it's with a ball. And sometimes it's simply with a child running around the outfield having absolutely no idea what they're supposed to be doing. 😂 And that's exactly how it should be. This year we've loved watching the next generation of Bishopthorpe cricketers discover the game. Our junior programme grew from 34 children in its first year to 45 this season, more than 30% growth in just 12 months. 💙🏏 And it didn't stop there. 27 children joined us for our summer cricket camp, giving even more youngsters the chance to pick up a bat and ball, learn new skills and have some fun. Behind those numbers are children making new friends, building confidence and hopefully developing a love of cricket that stays with them. And that's where the exciting bit starts. We're already working on plans to create more opportunities for children to play, learn and represent Bishopthorpe, with a clearer pathway from those first cricketing experiences into junior and eventually senior cricket. A huge thank you to all the children, parents, families, coaches and volunteers who've helped make this happen. The next generation is already here. And we're excited about where they're going. 💙🏏 Next week: More Than Cricket… #BishopthorpeCC #GrowingTogether #CricketForEveryone #JuniorCricket #CommunityCricket
