Foss League Entry Confirmed
Foss League Entry Confirmed for 2026 Season 🏏
2026 is shaping up to be an exciting and busy year for the club, with even more cricket on offer following the introduction of a new midweek league side. The team has been officially accepted into the Foss Evening League and will compete under the Bishopthorpe name. Alongside the new league team, the Riversiders will continue to play their programme of friendly fixtures throughout the summer.
The new side will play in Division 4, facing teams from Acomb, Copmanthorpe, Dunnington and Wheldrake. Each team will play one another three times in a season of 20-over matches, with fixtures scheduled from early May through to mid-August.
The addition of a midweek league side reflects the club’s ongoing commitment to providing cricket within the community for players of all abilities and experience levels. The Bishopthorpe team is intended to act as a development side, giving social cricketers the chance to gain match experience, helping to attract new players to the club, and providing additional playing opportunities for regular league members.
The club has confirmed that Brandon Clapham will captain the evening league side for its inaugural season.
